My name is Katherine Carver, and my husband's name is John Carver. We came from Holland. Now we live in Delaware. We are Dutch, and most of our neighbors are Dutch and Swedish.

Education consists of writing letters and reading. Also sewing is an important part of a young lady's education, and the girls sometimes sit by the window working on a sampler or mending doll clothes.

We are Quakers. Religion is an important part of our lives. Our children learn how to read from the Bible.
