Opportunities to participate in FCCLA include:
Star Events
Applied Technology
Individual or team event. Recognizes participants who develop a project using technology and shows evidence of problem solving, critical thinking and integration of applied communication, math and/or science skills in a home economics area.
Chapter Service Project
Team event. Recognizes chapters that develop and implement an in-depth service project that makes a worthwhile contribution to families, schools, communities and/or home economics.
Chapter Showcase
Team event. Recognizes chapters that develop and implement a well-balanced program of work and promotes FHA/HERO to the community.
Entrepreneurship
Individual or team event. Recognizes participants who develop a plan for a small business using home economics related skills and knowledge of sound business participants.
Focus on Children
Individual or team event. Recognizes participants who use home economic skills to plan and conduct a child development project that has a positive impact on children.
Food Service
Team event. Recognizes participants enrolled in occupational food service training programs for their ability to work in teams to produce a quality meal using industrial food service techniques.
Illustrated Talk
Individual event. Recognizes participants for their ability to make a presentation about life issues concerning home economics.
Interpersonal Communications
Individual or team event. Recognizes participants who develop an individual, school or community project designed to strengthen interpersonal communications and apply the communications knowledge and skill to other similar situations.
Job Interview
Individual Event. Recognizes participants who use home economics skills to develop a portfolio, participates in an interview and communicates a personal understanding of job requirements and the ability to perform them.
Parliamentary Procedure
Team event. Recognizes chapters that develop a working knowledge of parliamentary law and ability to conduct a business meeting.
Skills for Life
Individual or team event. Recognizes participants who develop a "how to" presentation that explains a life skills used to plan and/or implement a project related to a national FHA/HERO program.
