"I was born in El Paso and had often heard the rest of Texas didn't claim us! I found it to be so in the Panhandle and in East Texas! I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in the sixth grade, and I have never regretted it. I have enjoyed teaching here in this community because the parents are very supportive, even those who no longer have children in the system. I can't think of any other place I'd rather be!
I graduated from El Paso Burgess High School, obtained my bachelors degree in education fromTexas Tech University, and my Masters in Counseling from West Texas A & M. I am certified to teach English, history, and ESL. My first teaching experience was here at Springlake-Earth Junior High in 1985. I moved away, then returned in 1991 to teach English III and English IV in high school. I am currently teaching AP English III and IV and English III and IV, as well as being the school counselor. Prior to my teaching career, I was involved with title and casualty insurance.
My family consists of April and her husband Kevin Johnson. April teaches kindergareten in Amarillo at Windsor Elementary. John works for Wilkerson Properties in Lubbock as a CAD designer. James, who has just finished his industrial engineering degree at Tech, and his wife Sara have recently moved near Orlando, Florida. He is working with a company on a dredging operation, and she is a nurse at a hospital in Orlando.
My favorite saying is "Best laid plans of mice and men . . .", and a favorite book is the classic To Kill a Mockingbird. My favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean, and my favorite author is Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I have a weakness for Caramello. My hobbies and interests include wood working, collecting "apples," fixing my house, and sewing. I love teaching--again!
