Robert Conkin has been employed at Springlake-Earth Independent School District since the fall of 1974. Mr. Conkin was school counselor until the fall of 1984. He served as high school principal from the fall of 1981 until the spring of 1985 and was Superintendent of Springlake-Earth ISD from 1985 until July 2003. He is now the Elementary/Junior High Principal. Prior to 1974, he was a classroom teacher/coach in the El Paso ISD system. Mr. Conkin is certified to teach Health, P.E., and English. He holds masters degrees and professional certificates in Guidance/Counseling, Mid-management, and Superintendent. He received his degrees from Texas Tech.

He and his wife Janet, the high school business teacher, have a son, Brian, and a daughter, Kristen. His hobby is jogging, and he likes to read Faulkner and eat seafood.
