The Springlake-Earth Community Library was one of 103 public libraries to receive the Texas Book Festival Grant. This Award will give the library $2,500 to purchase new books for Family Reading Night. Family Reading Night is a program designed to enhance the love of reading in our younger patrons by encouraging children to bring an adult to the library to share children's literature.
Laura Bush in collaboration with the Texas Library Association, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Austin Writers League founded the Texas Book Festival in 1996. The festival, a celebration of books and authors, takes place in and around the State Capitol in Austin. Proceeds from event are earmarked for Texas public libraries.
