Mix up papier mache` in a plate with water until it is the proper consistency. If it is too wet, it won't shape; if it is too dry, it won't shape properly either.Make the desired shape of your mask in your plate. Set aside to air dry for 24-48 hrs. Decorate your mask using paint, sequins, jewels and feathers.Attach 1-2 craft sticks to the back of your mask to use as a handle (this is optional).Due to the heavy nature of the masks, these are not designed for wearing; they are purely decoration.Before this activity, the students researched Mardi Gras and wrote reports on this holiday.
