Regional Meeting
The Future Homemakers of America 's Region I Conference was held in Midland, Texas on February 25-26, 2000. Springlake-Earth chapter members were among 1300 delegates attending the two day conference. The youth developed theme, "Race into your future with FHA/HERO," was carried out through workshop and general sessions where members discovered ways to become actively involved in the issues facing today's youth. Some of the issues addressed at the meeting were dealing with drinking and driving, teen pregnancy, racism and stress.
STAR Events (Students Taking Action for Recognition) were competitive events in which members participated at the regional meeting. These events allowed the members to showcase their skills in different areas of competition. Also, the new officer team for 2000-2001 was elected to lead the region to greater heights.
