After the effects of Hurricane Katrina, the Springlake-Earth Student Council decided to raise funds for the victims of the hurricane. The Student Council thought it would be a good idea to hold cake weight guesses at the Friday night football game. Three members would bake a cake, and guesses for the cakes' weight ran for fifty cents each. All money raised went to hurricane victims. The cake winners are shown below.

Also, tickets were sold for one dollar for the field goal kick. The person whose name was drawn attempted to kick a field goal from the 20-yard line. The prize for making the field goal was a $25 gift certificate to South Plains Mall.
