On Monday, May 8, 2006, six Springlake-Earth National Honor Society members and two sponsors went to Canyon to tour the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, located on the West Texas A&M campus. In the top photo, students are sitting on the steps of the entrance, which has intricate carvings of a cowboy and cattle brands used in the area.
In the photo at the right, the students are viewing a film showing how a Comanche man and woman skinned a bison and processed the meat. In the bottom photo, students stand in front of a 1880s chuckwagon camp like the ones used on local ranches. |
